Flag Party
The Flag Party has the honour of carrying and protecting the Squadron flags during CO's parades, various parades in the community, (Battle of Britain, Remembrance Day, Ladner May Days, etc.), and at the Annual Inspection. Only the best Drill Team members, with the highest standards of dress and deportment, are selected for this honour. Besides foot drill, Flag Party Members learn flag and rifle drill. Duke of Edinburgh
The Duke of Edinburgh program is a program which rewards youth initiative, fitness, and community involvement. There are three levels to the program: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Each level requires certain hours of community service, physical activities, and skill-building, (instruments, hobbies, etc) as well as a practice journey and expedition. All levels can be achieved through Cadets, so if you're interested, please talk to Captain Hirst.
Effective Speaking
When there is enough interest, our Squadron Sponsoring Committee (SSC) with the help of the BC Air Cadet League coordinate effective speaking training. Cadets have the opportunity to compete for top effective speaker at the Squadron, Wing, Provincial and National levels.
First Aid Team
When there is enough interest, we have a junior (emergency) and senior (standard) first aid team. Please check the Squadron calendar and notices for practice times and location.
Flying
Flight is (naturally) an essential component of Air Cadets, be it in powered aeroplanes or gliders. Most years the Cadets have several opportunities to go flying, and always have a marvelous and exhilarating time.
Marksmanship & Biathlon Training
Our Squadron has a very active marksmanship and biathlon (Olympic style skiing and marksmanship combined) training program. Cadets are given given handling and safety tests before being allowed to operate our Daisy 853C air rifles and Anchutz .22 calibre rifles. Marksmanship and biathlon training usually takes place on Sundays and/or Monday nights. Please refer to our Squadron calendar for dates and times.
